The very existence of man depends upon nature, which is based on the ecological balance, with the development of Science and Technology and the ever-increasing world population. Considerable changes in the human environment have occurred. These changes upset the eco-laws, shook the balance between human life and the environment, and brought innumerable problems. Human existence is influenced not just by the environment but also by ecological forces. Ecology means the study of the relationship between organisms and all aspects of their environment. So, human beings should learn about the environment and ecological factors that influence the environment. The environment and ecology are interrelated sciences. Human life is dependent on ecological balance and ecological preservation. If humans safeguard the environment and support ecological growth, a pollution-free environment will emerge, and with it, improved living circumstances for humans and other living species. Any degradation of the ecosystem and ecological elements would almost surely result in the extinction of humans. Therefore, there is a need to protect environment and maintain ecological balance by every human being.
Environment protection has become one of the foremost concerns of the world community. Environmental deterioration through human activity is proceeding at an unprecedented rate. If this process is not stopped, the consequences will be severe and irreversible, harming both future generations and ourselves. The environmental harm will be felt not just in the country where it happens but also worldwide. To combat this universal threat, all public institutions, including the court, must work together. Concepts like respect for the mother earth, trusteeship of earth resources, and collective interests in common facilities, which are prevalent in the traditions of many developing nations, are occasionally submerged by human activity. Human activities fall into two areas that cause environmental issues. First, the usage of resources at extreme levels and secondly emanation of the wastes at levels exceeding the potential of the environment and earth to absorb them or render them harmless results in environmental damage and degradation. Biodiversity loss, water pollution, and subsequent health problems, air pollution increasing pulmonary diseases, causing deterioration of buildings and monuments, desertification, loss of soil fertility, an increase in eye diseases and skin cancers in certain areas due to ozone depletion, and diseases that are more widespread are all examples of environmental damage around the world. Mainly the poor carry the weight of environmental deterioration, although environmental threats are caused by the excess consuming habits of the wealthy.
Human advancement has generally been parasitic on the Environment because there is a fundamental relationship between the environment, the physical, biological and social surroundings, and interactions that sustain all life forms. Human insecurity rises as the integrity of the planet’s ecosystems is compromised. There is a strong link between life and the Environment. The deterioration of the environment leads to the extinction of all living things, including humans. Overproduction, resource exploitation, nuclear radiation, industrial waste, callous exploitation of forests, contamination of rivers and water supplies, and dramatic increases in air and noise pollution are all contributing elements to environmental degradation. Global warming, ozone depletion, and pollution are only a few of the negative consequences of current development strategies, all of which severely affect human existence. The development goal should be to safeguard soils, animals, forests, human health, and the environment, rather than to insist on predatory progress.
Environmental deterioration has become a source of worldwide concern, posing a threat to current and future generations. As a result, environmental conservation should be a top priority and high-profile societal issue for the survival of life and protecting the right to life. It is important to remember that the current generation must address environmental problems since the next generation will not be there if the present scenario continues. Because a healthy environment is a vital precursor of the right to life, environmental issues pose a considerably more formidable target. The Environment is no longer a matter of ethical or social emotion; it is instead a matter of human existence. Now, a point has been reached in history when we must shape our actions worldwide with more prudent care for their environmental consequences. We can do massive and irreversible harm to the earthly environment on which our life and well-being depend through ignorance and indifference. To defend and improve the human environment for present and future generations has become an imperative goal for humankind – a goal to be pursued together with, and in harmony with, the established and fundamental goals of peace and worldwide economic and social development.
Here are some pragmatic solutions to this global problem:
= Abandon fossil fuels.
= We need to consume less. We buy things we do not need, using up resources that the earth desperately needs. So, think green when making purchases.
= We need to stop chopping down trees.
= Televisions, stereo equipment, computers, battery chargers, and appliances consume more energy when seemingly switched off, so unplug them instead.
= Do not drink bottled water. Yeah, that reusable bottle does sound like a good idea.
We do not have the time, that is why we must each commit to change the way we think, move, shop, eat, and the way we live so that the earth can flourish, and so can we.
Do not wait for others. Get out there and start inspiring!
