MADRID: Pakistan is making efforts for the promotion of tourism ensuring protection of the natural, social, cultural and environmental heritage of the country.
This was stated by Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Quresh while talking to Secretary-General of the United Nations World Tourism Organization Zurab Pololikashvili in Madrid on Wednesday.
He said that Pakistan is a rich country having safe beautiful areas and in view of the improving security situation in Pakistan, many countries have revised their travel advisory to Pakistan. He appreciated the effective role of UNWTO in promoting tourism and conserving heritage across the world.
He hoped that expertise of the UNWTO team would be utilized for the digitization and technical assistance of the tourism sector in Pakistan. The foreign minister briefed on the details of the Prime Minister’s ten billion Tsunami Tree project to make tourist destinations safer in Pakistan.
Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Qureshi said the PTI government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan, has fulfilled the promise of giving the right to vote to overseas Pakistanis.
Talking to a delegation of PTI Spain Chapter headed by Muhammad Shahzad in Madrid, he said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is taking various steps, including FM Portal, to facilitate overseas Pakistanis and solve their problems on priority basis.
The minister said the Pakistanis residing in Spain have been playing the role of a bridge to expand bilateral cooperation. He said his meetings with the senior leadership of Spain remained fruitful.
Qureshi, who is also Vice Chairman of the PTI, gave necessary directions to the office bearers of PTI Spain Chapter about the party affairs. The delegation expressed commitment to make the party more efficient in Spain. – TLTP
