ISLAMABAD: Former prime minister and PTI Chairman Imran Khan said on Monday that never ever during 26-year history of his political struggle had he seen the nation so enthusiastic and pumped up.
Addressing PTI’s parliamentary party meeting in Islamabad, he regretted when he raised his voice over torture on party leader Shahbaz Gill, the government, rather than taking any action, booked him in a terrorism case instead.
He said last night (Sunday) the police wanted to arrest him at 3:00 or 4:00 AM.
Imran said that the party became more popular following its impressive win on 15, out of 20 Punjab Assembly (PA) seats, in the by-election held on July 17, 2022. “No other political party has gained so much popularity like the one PTI currently has,” he said gleefully.
Former prime minister also eulogized party leader Murad Saeed for mobilizing a huge crowd at his Bani Gala residence at such a short notice. “There is always an element of pressure when two groups are locked in a conflict with each other,” he said, and added he was glad
that the PTI’s popularity had gone further up in recent months.
Meanwhile, Imran Khan on Monday said that people came out on the streets last night otherwise the incumbent government would have arrested him, adding that “I would have been tortured, had I be like Shahbaz Gill.”
Addressing a seminar organized for the independence of the judiciary in Islamabad, Imran Khan said that great things can be done by a free man and not by a slave, adding that if there is no justice in a society, there can be no prosperity in the society.
PTI Chairman said while reacting to Shahbaz Gill’s arrest and alleged torture said the female magistrate should have checked that Shahbaz Gill was tortured instead she granted physical remand to police Gill, adding that he said that they will take legal action for wrong-doing, but on the contrary, a case of terrorism was registered against him.
“PTI’s war is for the future of Pakistan, establishing the rule of law in the country is the future of the country, if the rule of law is not established in the country, then we cannot avoid economic disaster while all the development of Shehbaz Sharif was done in advertisements, the price of electricity was doubled, the common class is in a bad situation, the economy is shrinking and debts are increasing,” the PTI Chairman said.
Meanwhile, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan meets Chief Minister Punjab Pervaiz Elahi at Bani Gala.
As per sources in the know, the meeting was held between the two to discuss the political situation, the case against Imran Khan and future strategies.
CM Punjab reached Bani Gala on Monday and the consultation took place regarding the current political issues.
