NBP collaborates with NGOs
KARACHI: NBP Collaborates with NGOs to provide clean drinking water manufactured by an indigenous technology developed company PakVitae in flood affected areas to save the peoples from the spread of waterborne diseases in Pakistan stated by the acting CEO / President National Bank of Pakistan Rehmat Ali Hasnie in a Press conference here at NBP head office Monday.
Speaking at the Press conference Rehmat Ali Hasnie said that NBP is the single largest lender supporting the Microfinance sector ,providing the loans to those who don’t have NBP access.
The unprecedented rains and floods in Pakistan have caused devastation of an enormous magnitude in various parts of the country. Total estimated loss is still in calculation but more than thirty-three million people have been affected, and more than a thousand have lost
their lives due to flooding.
At NBP we are trying to help the Pakistani nation through our civil society, and humanitarian organizations are continuing rescue and relief efforts.We contributed Rupees 50 million in Prime Minister flood relief fund and launched a digital payments platform enabling people across the globe and within Pakistan to donate using their preferred payment method, i.e., Credit/Debit Card, International bank transfer, local bank Direct debit, Wallets, ATMs.
Moreover ,he said that National Bank of Pakistan in collaboration with Thardeep Microfinance Foundation and Rural Community Development Program (RCDP), has stepped up to provide immediate aid to the vulnerable communities in Pakistan by providing Water Purifiers developed by PakVitae to provide flood affected households access to clean drinking water.
CEO Pak vitae demonstrated its filtration self contained solution which cost 4000 Pak rupees and these Water Purifiers have patent coverage in 82 countries and have undergone rigorous testing by independent & ISO certified labs to meet the standards established by the US Environment Protection Agency (EPA), NSF International & World Health Organization (WHO) and remove bacteria, parasites, microplastics & turbidity.
This water filtration apparatus has the capacity to filter 15,000 litres of water in a year.
The press briefing is attended by the NBP senior management team including regional managers and Group Chiefs.
