KARACHI: The 9th National Archery Championship started in a colourful ceremony, Sindh Olympic Association Chairman Dr. Junaid Ali Shah was the chief guest of the opening ceremony who inaugurated the event. Pakistan Olympic Association President General (Retd) Arif Hasan, Secretary Sports Sindh Akhtar Inayat Bhurgari, Secretary Pakistan Archery Federation Zulfiqar Butt, Secretary Sindh Olympic Association Ahmed Ali Rajput, Chairman Sindh Archery Association Imtiaz Sheikh, President Sana Ali and Others were also present.
The Chief Guest said, “I am very impressed with the sport of archery. It is definitely an exciting sport that is progressing.
POA President General (Retd) Arif Hasan said that I am very happy with the organization of the 9th National Archery Championship, the National Archery Championship is being organized every year and the pool of players is also expanding. Sindh Archery Association has made excellent arrangements for this event, for which I congratulate them.
Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs Akhtar Inayat Bhurgari said that the sports department is trying to get the children away from mobile phones and bring them back to the sports field. The sport of Archery is definitely new but I am very impressed to see the arrangements for the National Championship and the full participation of the players, the sports department will provide all possible support for the development and promotion of this sport.
Syed Ijaz Ali, secretary of Sindh Archery Association and organizing secretary of the event, said that despite limited resources and lack of sponsorship, we have tried to organize a wonderful event, trying to popularize the sport of archery in Sindh.
He said, we are happy that in the opening ceremony of the National Archery Championship, the Federation officials including all the sports circles of Karachi are present, with whose technical support we are able to organize a memorable event.
After that, the event was opened regularly, on this occasion the school children also presented a tableau. On the first day, all the teams practiced extensively to acclimatize the players to the weather, ground and surroundings.
