In this advanced era, if the world hasinnumerable facilities and has turned into a global village, it will haveseveral global challenges. It has been very perplexing to deal with because Pakistan’s disposition is to create humor out of any situation. The country’s economic situation got worse after the pandemic; on the one hand, the cost of living has increased whilethe pay scale is the same. Through this medium, I would like to discuss the internal and external challenges faced by Pakistan due to global defies.
Currently, Pakistan is facing two main challenges at the borders, one disputed land of Kashmir and conflicts with Afghanistan. This world remains insecure with the persistence of old conflicts like Palestine, Kashmir and now Afghanistan after the advent of extreme forces Al-Qaeda. The situation could have been different if the international community had paid attention to issue. Conflict situations cannot be insulated in this recently developed diverse global environment, and security is indivisible.
Around six years back, the nation inherited an economy compounded by maladministration and sleaze. Based on the liberalization policy, deregulation of the economy, and privatization have increased focus on the growth of the private sector, andthe country started to evolve. Still, the uncertain political situation led to a poor economic situation, leaving the nation under constant threat of a default economy. The coalition government faces enormous economic challenges like massive devaluation of the Pakistani rupee, increased inflation and extraordinaryfuel prices. The war between Ukraine and Russia is the reason behind increased fuel costs which affected the overall cost of products.
While the pandemic was one global issue affecting the Pakistani socio-economic situation, another major global challenge is climate issues. Global warming has led to disastrous situations like tsunamis, wildfires and floods. Pakistan is one of the countries that suffered a lot due to natural catastrophes. Forthe last 20 years, Pakistan has been considered one of the ten most vulnerable regions, experiencing more than 10,000 fatalities due to climate-related issues. The CO2 emissions from global leader regions (US and China) are very high, even Pakistan is not meeting the pace of development, but it has to be ready for natural challenges.
The authorities need to develop an infrastructure incorporating green strategies and approaches to reduce in-house emissions and change policies or standardscontributing to the global economy.Pakistan is negated vision, the pace of change and expected response speed does not leave enough time for reflection, and there is constant pressure to move forward. It leads towards short-termism and an inability to devise strategies and solutions that are needed to deal with deep-rooted social issues.
Pakistan needs to design bold policies, decentralize power to local government and allow the entry of experts to revamp the government structure. Other than that, this country needs a systematic leadership approach, redefining some form of moral leadership while promoting local collaboration and broader management in the community, drawing attention to diverse narratives to inform decision-making.
