Prince William had to honor an important directive from his father, King Charles, regarding his estranged brother, Prince Harry. Although the siblings were once close, they are now not on speaking terms. However, there was a moment of truce for the sake of the royal family in September 2022 to honor their late grandmother, Queen Elizabeth.
According to a well-placed source quoted by the Daily Mail, William sent a last-minute text to Harry inviting him and Meghan Markle to join him and Kate Middleton on the Long Walk in Windsor. This public walkabout was a display of unity as they viewed floral tributes for the late Queen.
“It happened very quickly – remarkable really considering they didn’t see each other in Scotland,” the source noted.
Some speculated that William extended the olive branch himself, but the source clarified that it was “absolutely not the case,” and it was done under King Charles’s direction.
Despite this moment of unity, the relationship between Charles and his younger son appears worse than ever. Prince Harry visited his father, who is battling cancer, in February earlier this year. However, reports now indicate that King Charles is avoiding communication with Harry, leaving his calls unanswered.
