Toyota has announced that it will present Olympic gold medalist Arshad Nadeem with a Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid Electric as a gesture of appreciation for his remarkable performance at the Paris Olympics 2024.
In a statement shared on its official Facebook page, Toyota expressed its pride in Nadeem’s achievements, highlighting his role as a Toyota-sponsored athlete since October 2023. The company stated, “Arshad Nadeem has been a Toyota-sponsored athlete, embodying our shared values of determination and excellence. As a token of our appreciation for his unwavering dedication and the pride he has brought to Pakistan at the Paris Olympics 2024, we are excited to gift our gold medalist the Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid Electric. We are proud to have him as part of our journey and look forward to driving forward together.”
This announcement comes on the heels of Nadeem’s historic victory in the men’s javelin event at the Paris Olympics, where he secured a gold medal with an astounding throw of 92.97 meters, setting a new Olympic record and ending Pakistan’s 32-year Olympic medal drought.
President Asif Ali Zardari also directed on Saturday that Nadeem be awarded one of Pakistan’s highest civilian honors in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the nation.
Nadeem, hailing from a modest background in Khanewal, central Pakistan, achieved the feat despite tough competition, particularly from India’s defending champion, Neeraj Chopra. His record-breaking throw on the second attempt sealed his victory, earning him and his country immense pride.
On Friday, Nadeem stood on the winners’ podium at Champions Park near the Eiffel Tower, with Pakistan’s flag flying high as the national anthem resonated, marking a moment of national triumph.
