Prince William, who shares a close bond with his cousin Zara Tindall, revealed that he couldn’t hold back his emotions during a significant moment in her life.
William and Zara have remained close throughout their adult lives, offering each other support during difficult times.
The Prince of Wales recently shared a touching memory about the moment Zara made the royal family proud in 2005, highlighting their strong relationship.
During the September 2023 episode of The Good, The Bad & The Rugby podcast, William confessed to Zara’s husband, Mike Tindall, that he was moved to tears watching Zara win the European Championship on her horse, Toytown, in 2005.
“I was down in Exmoor camping at the time,” William recounted. “We were all gathered around the phone watching it. She was there, crying with joy, the flag was going up. I was completely overwhelmed.”
Kate Middleton, who was also present during the podcast with Princess Anne, added, “I remember you coming back and saying you’ve never been so proud of anyone.”
In a separate interview, Zara admitted she was “very surprised” to hear this, as William had never mentioned it before.
She also shared that it was one of her favorite moments because all of her cousins came to watch on the final day, saying, “Everyone’s usually so busy, so it was amazing to have everyone there. It made the moment even more special. They were all very supportive and proud. It was great.”
