Saudi Crown Prince MBS Fears Assassination Over Saudi-Israel Normalization Efforts

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman has reportedly voiced fears for his safety due to his efforts to normalize relations between Saudi Arabia and Israel, as per a report from Politico. The crown prince allegedly conveyed his concerns to members of the U.S. Congress, drawing parallels with the assassination of Egyptian leader Anwar Sadat following his peace treaty with Israel in the 1980s.

With the recent conflict in Gaza escalating Arab anger towards Israel, Crown Prince Mohammed has stressed the importance of including a credible pathway to a Palestinian state in any such agreement. He believes this is crucial for addressing the growing tensions in the region.

The proposed deal between Saudi Arabia and the United States includes several key commitments, such as security guarantees, support for a civilian nuclear program, and economic investments in technology. In exchange, Saudi Arabia would limit its dealings with China and establish diplomatic ties with Israel. However, the Israeli government’s reluctance to agree to a meaningful path toward a Palestinian state remains a significant obstacle to the deal.
