“Heavy Rains Expected in Sindh as New Monsoon System Approaches”

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has announced that a new monsoon system is set to enter Sindh on August 26, potentially bringing significant rainfall to Karachi and surrounding areas. This development comes as the city endures humid weather, with the PMD forecasting partly cloudy skies for the next 24 hours.

On Friday, Karachi recorded a minimum temperature of 28.5°C, with the maximum temperature expected to range between 33°C and 35°C. The city is currently experiencing westward winds at a speed of 18 kilometers per hour, coupled with a high humidity level of 78%. There is also a chance of drizzle in some parts of the city, both in the morning and at night.

Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfaraz has indicated that the incoming monsoon system could bring heavy rainfall to Karachi on August 27 and 28, with the system expected to linger in the region until August 30. He has also issued a warning for potential urban flooding due to the anticipated heavy downpours.

Meteorological analysts have noted that a low-pressure area, which typically causes rainfall, has formed near West Bengal. This system is expected to affect eastern Sindh, including Karachi, in the coming days, entering the region on August 26.

Indian meteorologist Mahesh Palawat has added that this low-pressure system is currently moving through central India and is likely to intensify, bringing the possibility of heavy rain spells to southern Sindh between August 26 and 30. He also mentioned that Punjab could experience rainfall from August 27, with various parts of Pakistan potentially receiving rain between August 29 and 30.

PMD meteorologist Anjum Nazir has suggested that this could be the strongest weather system to impact southern Sindh this season. Meanwhile, Palawat also expects moderate rainfall in both Sindh and Balochistan during this period.
