PTA Blames Slow Internet on Submarine Cables Fault

On Wednesday, internet services across Pakistan faced severe disruptions, with the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) attributing the slowdown to faults in two of the seven submarine cables that connect the country internationally.

In a statement, the PTA identified the affected cables as SMW-4 and AAE-1. The ongoing internet slowdown, according to the PTA, is primarily due to these faults. The authority provided an update, stating that the SMW-4 cable is expected to be repaired by early October 2024, while the AAE-1 cable has already been repaired to help improve internet performance.

However, the PTA did not provide a specific timeline for when internet connectivity and speed would return to normal following the partial repair. The lack of clarity has left many users uncertain about when they can expect a significant improvement in their internet experience.
