Pakistan Fulfills IMF Conditions, Nearing Loan Deal: PM Shehbaz

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced that Pakistan has successfully met all of the stringent conditions set by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for a much-anticipated financial agreement. After addressing the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York, he expressed optimism about securing approval from the IMF board, which is scheduled to meet soon.

PM Shehbaz acknowledged the challenging nature of the IMF conditions but emphasized that collective efforts from the government and institutions helped the country navigate the economic crisis. He also pointed out that some of the IMF requirements involved cooperation from China, which was crucial for meeting the lender’s expectations.

The IMF board’s upcoming meeting is likely to grant final approval for Pakistan’s loan program, which is essential for stabilizing its economy. The prime minister further noted that the economic indicators of the country are gradually improving due to sustained efforts.

PM Praises Turkish President Erdogan’s Speech

During his visit to the UNGA, PM Shehbaz also lauded Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan for his passionate speech about the Palestinian crisis. Erdogan criticized Israel’s actions in Gaza and the Western world’s support for Israel, calling for an “alliance of humanity” to stop the ongoing aggression. Shehbaz highlighted the strong brotherly relations between Pakistan and Turkey and hinted that Erdogan would soon visit Pakistan.

This development underscores Pakistan’s commitment to fulfilling international obligations while maintaining its alliances on key global issues like Palestine.
