Quetta Blast Injures 12, Including 2 Police Officers

A bomb explosion targeting a police vehicle injured at least 12 people, including two policemen, in Quetta’s eastern bypass area on Wednesday. The explosive device, planted on a motorcycle, detonated near a police vehicle. Authorities immediately dispatched the bomb disposal squad to the site, and the injured were taken to Civil Sandeman Hospital for treatment.

The Balochistan Chief Minister, Sarfaraz Bugti, condemned the attack and ordered medical assistance for the victims. He vowed that those responsible for the terror attack would face justice, reaffirming the government’s commitment to continue its operations against militants.

This incident follows a deadly surge in attacks in Pakistan, particularly in the provinces of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Balochistan. Just two days earlier, a remote-controlled explosion targeted a police convoy escorting foreign diplomats in Swat, resulting in one officer’s death and injuries to others. The recent spike in violence has been attributed to groups such as the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and other militant factions.

In response to rising terrorism, the federal government launched Operation Azm-e-Istehkam earlier this year to reinforce national counter-terrorism efforts.

The country has witnessed a notable increase in attacks, with August recording a surge in incidents across KP and Balochistan.
