England Crush Pakistan by an Innings and 47 Runs in Commanding Test Victory

England secured a dominating innings and 47-run victory over Pakistan on the fifth day of the opening Test, showcasing a commanding performance in Multan. After a spirited fightback from Pakistan, the visitors closed out the match, sparking jubilant celebrations among their supporters.

Pakistan resumed their innings on 152-6, but their hopes of staging a comeback were dashed when Salman Ali Agha was dismissed for 63, breaking his 109-run partnership with Aamer Jamal. Jack Leach‘s introduction proved pivotal for England, who continued to chip away at the Pakistani lineup.

Aamer Jamal, who had been hit on the head earlier by a fierce bouncer from Brydon Carse, showed resilience to reach his half-century and remained unbeaten on 55 after surviving a dropped catch by England’s stand-in captain Ollie Pope. However, Pakistan’s efforts were in vain as Leach took a stunning catch off his own bowling to dismiss Shaheen Afridi and stumped Naseem Shah to secure victory.

England had declared their innings after an astonishing total of 823-7—their highest score in 86 years—thanks to Harry Brook‘s remarkable 317 and Joe Root‘s impressive 262. Despite Pakistan‘s strong first innings total of 556, they were overwhelmed by England’s relentless attack, trailing by 115 runs at the end of day four and eventually collapsing under pressure.

The match marks a triumphant start for England, who extracted the most out of the lifeless pitch and showcased their firepower in both batting and bowling.
