Windstorm Hits Karachi, Brief Showers as Temperature Soars to 40°C

Karachi experienced a sudden windstorm today, disrupting normal activity in various parts of the city. Meteorologists explained that the windstorm was caused by convective energy, triggered by the earth’s heat. Along with the strong winds, light rain was reported in areas such as Malir, North Karachi, and Gulistan-e-Johar, giving some relief to residents amidst the scorching weather.

Despite these brief showers, the overall temperature in the city remained high, with the mercury soaring to 40°C. Experts predict that the rain will not bring any substantial drop in the heat, and the sweltering conditions are expected to continue over the coming days. More rain is forecasted for Karachi’s suburban areas, but its effect on the overall temperature is expected to be minimal.

In addition to the stormy weather, a low air pressure system has developed in the Arabian Sea. Meteorologists are closely monitoring the system, which could potentially develop into a depression. However, experts have reassured the public that there is no immediate threat to Pakistan’s coastline, though authorities remain on alert.

Residents have been advised to take precautions against the heat, as the city continues to endure higher-than-usual temperatures for this time of year. The sudden weather changes have also raised concerns about air quality and dust accumulation, particularly in areas already facing poor environmental conditions.
