After getting bail in Toshakana 2.0, Bushra Bibi was released from Adiala jail.

Released from Adiala Jail on Thursday a day following her bail in a recent Toshakhana case, Bushra Bibi, the wife of imprisoned former premier Imran Khan, ended almost nine months of detention.

An accountability court in Islamabad sentenced the former first lady and Imran to 14 years in prison in the Toshakhana case, and she was placed under arrest on January 31.

Days before the general elections, on January 31, an accountability court in Islamabad jailed Imran and Bushra Bibi in the Toshakhana issue. According to the ruling, Bushra and Imran were each fined Rs787 million and prohibited from holding any public office for ten years.

Bushra was detained in Adiala Jail, where the PTI founder has been detained since August 5 of last year in connection with a different Toshakhana case.

After being acquitted in the Iddat case the same day, Imran and Bushra were arrested in the case on July 13. The lawmaker, who was already in jail, was “arrested” the following day in relation to a dozen cases from May 9.

In the latest case, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has accused the pair of keeping a costly set of Bvlgari jewelry, which included rings, bracelets, earrings, and a necklace, that was given to them by a foreign leader at a discounted price. The FIA claims that this resulted in a substantial loss for the exchequer.

Bushra’s release orders were issued today by a special court after the IHC granted her bail in the identical case a day prior.

With the phrase, “Welcome back Bushra Bibi!” the PTI celebrated her release.

Throughout your unlawful incarceration, you have had to deal with incredibly trying times, repulsive campaigns, and attempts to assassinate your reputation. On X, the party declared, “The Pakistani nation salutes your bravery.”

PTI Chairman Gohar Khan emphasized that the former first lady had “endured jail for nine months in extreme conditions with a lot of courage” when speaking outside Adiala Jail.

Bushra had supported Imran’s goal in spite of all the difficulties, he said, and he hoped Imran would be released soon.

In response to reports that Imran and the ruling class were reaching an agreement, Gohar stated that Bushra would not have been in prison till now if a deal could have been reached to get her out.

According to Gohar, “Khan sahib would not have been in jail for 16 months [either].”

Gohar joked, “In what else case could they have arrested her?” in response to a question about why Bushra was ultimately released today rather than being jailed again as in before incidents.

Special Judge Shahrukh Arjumand issued Bushra’s release orders earlier today.

As directed by the IHC a day earlier, Bushra’s attorneys, Malik Tariq Mehmood Noon and Sohail Satti, provided security bonds totaling Rs1 million to secure her release.

“The high court has approved the accused’s bail in the aforementioned case,” the release order stated, adding that “the accused should be released upon confirmation if they are not wanted in any other case.”

IHC orders Imran’s production in court by three o’clock.

In a separate ruling, the IHC on Thursday mandated that Imran appear in court and be permitted to meet virtually with his attorneys.

Judge Sardar Ejaz Ishaq Khan heard Advocate Faisal Chaudhry’s contempt case today, accusing the Adiala jail administration of disobeying earlier court orders by denying Imran’s request to meet.

Citing security concerns, the Punjab government earlier this month prohibited contacts with inmates at Adiala Prison until October 18, after which it was extended indefinitely.

On the court’s orders, Ghafoor Anjum, the superintendent of Adiala Jail, as well as the state counsel and the additional attorney general, appeared before the court today.

Justice Khan instructed Anjum to bring Imran before the court by 3 p.m. and to arrange a video conference with his attorneys. He was also instructed to provide an explanation for any noncompliance with the order.
