Israel Launches Strikes on Iran in Response to Tehran’s Attacks, IDF Reports

Israel conducted targeted strikes on military sites in Iran early Saturday in response to Tehran’s recent attacks, as confirmed by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). The IDF stated that the strikes were a direct reaction to “months of continuous attacks from the regime in Iran against the State of Israel.”

The escalation follows Iran’s missile offensive on October 1, during which approximately 200 ballistic missiles were launched at Israel, marking Iran’s second direct assault within six months. Israel maintains that it has the right and duty to respond to these attacks, including those launched by Tehran and its regional allies.

Israel’s defense chief called the operation a demonstration of strength, and the IDF indicated that “our defensive and offensive capabilities are fully mobilized.” The scope of the strikes remains undisclosed, but strong explosions were reported in Tehran and the nearby city of Karaj. Iranian state TV claimed the blasts could be linked to Iran’s air defense activation, though details remain unconfirmed by Iranian authorities.

The U.S., notified ahead of Israel’s operation but not involved in the execution, emphasized caution against further escalation. White House National Security Council spokesperson Sean Savett confirmed Washington’s understanding that the strikes were “exercises of self-defense” in response to Iran’s recent missile attack.

Meanwhile, reports of explosions emerged from Syria’s Damascus region, hinting at broader regional instability. This strike follows Israel’s recent escalated offensives against Hamas in Gaza and Hezbollah in Lebanon, both of which have close ties to Iran.
