Gun Attack at Balochistan Dam Site Leaves 5 Dead

A deadly gun attack left at least five people dead and two injured at a dam site in Panjgur, Balochistan, on Tuesday. The victims were reportedly deployed for dam maintenance in the Paroom tehsil. Balochistan government spokesperson Shahid Rind confirmed the incident, stating that the attackers were unidentified gunmen on motorcycles, according to Levies officials.

The attack follows a spate of violence in the region. Just last month, seven laborers from Punjab were killed in a similar incident in Panjgur. The southwestern province, which has been a hotspot for terrorist activity, is among the most affected regions, with Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa accounting for 97% of the 722 terror-related fatalities reported in Pakistan this year, as per the Centre for Research and Security Studies (CRSS).

Balochistan has experienced escalating violence in recent weeks. Earlier in October, 20 colliers lost their lives in a rocket attack on coal mines in the Duki district, leading to the mass exodus of over 40,000 laborers from the area.

This is a developing story, with more updates expected as authorities investigate the incident.
