Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi conducted an inspection of the renovation work underway at Karachi’s National Stadium, emphasizing the need for timely completion to meet the International Cricket Council (ICC) standards for the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025, scheduled from February 19 to March 9.
During the visit, Naqvi addressed issues impacting fan experience, instructing the repositioning of the stadium’s electronic screen to avoid obstructing views. “We want fans to have an uninterrupted view of the matches, so adjusting the screen placement is a priority,” he said. To enhance convenience, he also ordered the relocation of the parking area closer to the stadium for easier access.
Naqvi tasked the Frontier Works Organisation (FWO) with accelerating the renovation, aiming for completion by December. FWO officials, along with Adviser Aamir Mir and National Stadium Manager Arshad Khan, briefed Naqvi on the progress, expressing confidence in meeting the deadline.
The ICC had previously expressed satisfaction with PCB’s preparations for the tournament. However, the participation of the Indian cricket team remains uncertain, as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) awaits government approval for travel to Pakistan. In response, PCB has proposed that the Indian team may return home after each match to limit their stay in Pakistan.
