PML-N leaders have denounced former first lady Bushra Bibi’s remarks alleging Saudi Arabia’s involvement in the 2022 removal of Imran Khan. In her rare video message, she accused Saudi Arabia of conspiring against PTI’s government.
Deputy PM Ishaq Dar called the statement “regrettable,” emphasizing Pakistan-Saudi Arabia’s historic ties. Defence Minister Khawaja Asif criticized PTI for exploiting religion for political gains, accusing them of “playing the Shariah card.”
Punjab Minister Azma Bukhari described the claim as a “suicidal attack” on a key ally. Atta Tarar also condemned the remarks, pointing out Saudi Arabia’s past support for the PTI leadership.
Religious scholar Tahir Ashrafi labeled Bushra’s allegations as baseless, stressing Saudi respect for Pakistan during Imran Khan’s tenure. He accused PTI of spreading propaganda to damage Pakistan-Saudi relations.
