Thailand, Malaysia Devastated by Floods, Death Toll Rises to 12

Severe floods have claimed at least 12 lives in southern Thailand and northern Malaysia, with tens of thousands evacuated over the past three days.

In Thailand, nearly 534,000 households have been affected, with the death toll rising to nine. Songkhla’s Chana district experienced its worst flooding in 50 years, displacing thousands into 200 shelters. Rescuers in Yala province saved a baby from a submerged home.

Malaysia reported three deaths and 139,000 affected across nine states. Heavy rains continue to threaten both nations with more flash floods expected, Thailand’s meteorological department warned.

Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed solidarity with Malaysia, offering humanitarian aid and praising their government’s swift response.
