ISLAMABAD: Senator Chaudhry Abid Sher Ali has expressed the hope that Pakistan’s upcoming civil awards will be conferred strictly on merit, saying that distinguished Ayurvedic physician Dr. Nasir Saleem Nasaka deserves national recognition for his extraordinary humanitarian services spanning more than four decades.
The senator made these remarks after formally recommending Dr. Nasaka’s name to President Asif Ali Zardari for one of Pakistan’s highest civil honours. His recommendation was submitted through a letter addressed to the President, requesting that Dr. Nasaka’s lifelong services be considered for a prestigious national award.
Senator Sher Ali said Dr. Nasaka has dedicated his entire professional life to serving humanity, providing treatment to lakhs of patients suffering from chronic diseases. He particularly highlighted Dr. Nasaka’s contribution in treating thousands of cancer patients, many of whom, he said, recovered after receiving treatment under his care.
He noted that one of the most remarkable aspects of Dr. Nasaka’s service has been that he treated deserving patients completely free of charge, often bearing the cost of medicines himself so that poor and underprivileged patients could receive healthcare without financial burden.
“Such selfless service to humanity deserves recognition at the highest national level,” Senator Sher Ali said, adding that Dr. Nasaka’s dedication, compassion and commitment to public welfare make him a deserving candidate for a civil award.
Expressing confidence in the process, the senator said he hoped the forthcoming civil awards would be decided purely on merit and that the President of Pakistan would give due consideration to Dr. Nasaka’s outstanding contributions to healthcare and humanitarian service.
According to the recommendation, Dr. Nasaka has earned widespread respect for his decades-long efforts to promote Ayurvedic medicine and for providing free treatment to thousands of patients, particularly those suffering from chronic and life-threatening illnesses. Senator Sher Ali said honouring such personalities would not only acknowledge their services but also encourage others to dedicate themselves to the welfare of humanity.
