PCFR delegation discusses regional situation, Makkah Agreement and bilateral cooperation with Iranian Consul General
KARACHI: Iranian Consul General in Karachi Akbar Eisazadeh has called for deeper cooperation between Iran and Pakistan in trade, energy, connectivity, tourism, culture, science and technology, stressing that the two neighbouring countries possess significant potential to complement each other economically.
He expressed these views during a meeting with a delegation of the Pakistan Council on Foreign Relations (PCFR), comprising students and researchers of political science and economics, which visited the Iranian Consulate in Karachi under the leadership of PCFR Secretary General Dr. Hassan Habib.
During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on the prevailing regional situation, the Makkah Agreement, Pakistan-Iran relations and prospects for expanding bilateral cooperation in different fields.
‘Foreign military presence no guarantee of security’
Referring to what he described as US and Israeli aggression against Iran and Tehran’s defensive and retaliatory actions, Eisazadeh said recent developments had demonstrated to countries across the region that the presence of foreign forces and military bases could not guarantee their security.
