Vijay Deverakonda Reveals How He Made Rashmika Mandanna Cry at First Meeting

Vijay recalls his blunt comment about Rashmika’s music left her in tears during Geetha Govindam shoot
Actor says the early misunderstanding eventually faded as the two grew closer while working together

Vijay Deverakonda has revealed that an unexpectedly blunt comment during his first days of working with Rashmika Mandanna left her in tears, as the couple looked back at the beginning of their relationship.

Appearing together on Prakhar Gupta’s podcast, Vijay and Rashmika recalled their early interactions while filming the 2018 Telugu romantic comedy Geetha Govindam.

Rashmika said she was relatively new to the Telugu film industry at the time and initially addressed the more experienced Vijay as “sir.”

Their first interaction, however, proved somewhat awkward.

Rashmika recalled playing music on set when Vijay suddenly asked her to turn it off. Vijay admitted his naturally blunt manner contributed to the misunderstanding.

“I am a blunt person, and I assume everyone to understand the intention,” he said.

Vijay recalled questioning the music Rashmika was playing while the two were sharing a caravan. His remark was not intended to upset her, but Rashmika apparently interpreted it differently.

“She had tears in her eyes because she thought that he doesn’t like me,” Vijay recalled, adding that Rashmika did not tell him at the time how deeply the remark had affected her.

The misunderstanding gradually disappeared as the two became more comfortable working together. Vijay began helping Rashmika with her dialogues, while she eventually stopped addressing him as “sir.”

From Geetha Govindam to Ranabaali

Directed by Parasuram, Geetha Govindam was released on August 15, 2018, and became a major success for both actors.

Vijay and Rashmika reunited on screen in Dear Comrade in 2019.

According to the supplied report, the couple are now set to appear together again in Ranabaali, a period action drama directed by Rahul Sankrityan and scheduled for release on October 16.
