Aaghosh Trust Hosts Rally to Honor “International Day of Persons with Disabilities”
KARACHI: December 3 was observed as “International Day of Persons with Disabilities” across the world. In Pakistan too, this day was celebrated in a grand manner to highlight its importance. In this regard, Aaghosh Trust organized a rally with disabled persons.
A large number of disabled persons from Aaghosh Trust and Zainab Rehabilitation Center participated in this rally, while disabled children also did various activities, says a Press release.
The purpose of which is to highlight the problems faced by disabled people in the world and especially in Pakistan and to emphasize the usefulness of these people in the society. It was decided in 1992 to celebrate this day in the United Nations for the rights of persons with disabilities.
The rally started from Dr. AQ Khan Park Sea View Clifton and was led by President of Aaghosh Trust Shagufta Saba, Vice President Haji Masood Parekh and Trustees Dr. Tanveer Zuberi, Manzar Naqvi, Shakeel Ahmed Baig and Mohammad Jazeb while Director of ZRC Mehwish Parekh told the participants about the abilities of disabled children.
Famous artist of Pakistan Jimmy Engineer, Brigadier (Retd) Syed Karar Hussain Shah, Bhutto, Salim, Mubeen Durrani from Dow University, Sindh Government Officers Ghulam Hussain Nariyun, Muhammad Mubeen, Police officers and civil society and participants from Greenwich University, Skills Valley and South City Hospitals attended in large numbers.
Shakeel Ahmed Baig thanked the participants for their cooperation on International Day of Persons with Disabilities, Sindh Police, Rangers, Traffic Police and Clifton Cantonment Board especially KFC and Dow University and Diagnostic Center for their cooperation in celebrating the day.
