ACC Expected to Announce Asia Cup 2025 Schedule in Early July

KARACHI: The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) is expected to unveil the official schedule for the Asia Cup 2025 in the first week of July, Indian media reported on Sunday, dispelling speculation that India might skip the tournament due to ongoing political tensions.

According to a report by Cricbuzz, the 2025 Asia Cup is likely to follow a hybrid hosting model, similar to the 2023 edition. The tournament is tentatively set to begin in the second week of September, with preparations already underway.

Although India is the designated host for this edition, the ACC has reiterated its stance that when either India or Pakistan is scheduled to host, matches will be played at neutral venues. The UAE remains the frontrunner to host the event, though discussions on a split-host format are still ongoing.

In 2023, Pakistan officially hosted the Asia Cup, but India played all its matches in Sri Lanka due to political constraints — an arrangement that may be mirrored again this year.

To align with the ICC T20 World Cup 2026, the 2025 Asia Cup will be held in the T20 format, helping participating teams fine-tune their squads and strategies ahead of the global tournament.

Participating Teams:

  • Pakistan

  • India

  • Sri Lanka

  • Bangladesh

  • Afghanistan

  • United Arab Emirates (UAE)

Promotional campaigns for the event have already begun across Indian media outlets, with teasers circulating on television and social media platforms, heightening anticipation for the high-profile regional competition.

Meanwhile, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has also released the schedules for two upcoming women’s tournaments:

  • The Women’s ODI World Cup in India and Sri Lanka

  • The Women’s T20 World Cup in England

In both tournaments, India and Pakistan — cricket’s fiercest rivals — are scheduled to face off: first on October 5 in Colombo, and again on June 14, 2026, at Edgbaston.

The Asia Cup 2025 promises to deliver another exciting chapter in regional cricket, with arch-rivals India and Pakistan expected to draw global attention once again.
