Action Initiated Against Alleged Attackers of Ex-CJP Isa’s Vehicle in London

Pakistan’s Ambassador to the UK, Mohammad Faisal, has confirmed that action is underway against individuals who allegedly assaulted the former Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP), Qazi Faez Isa, in London. The incident occurred outside London’s prestigious Middle Temple, where CJP Isa attended an event organized by The Honourable Society of the Middle Temple following his recent elevation as a bencher.

Ambassador Faisal condemned the incident, stating that the Pakistani government has directed further action. The protest, organized by the PTI’s UK chapter and led by figures like Sahibzada Jahangir and Zulfi Bukhari, started peacefully with around 80 participants. However, after the main protest concluded, a smaller group allegedly surrounded and banged on CJP Isa’s diplomatic vehicle, with attempts to open the doors as the former judge and his wife exited the venue.

In response, Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi vowed strict action, including the potential cancellation of the national identity cards and passports of those involved. The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has been instructed to identify the suspects from available footage, with an FIR to be registered in Pakistan.

Shayan Ali, one of the protesters, defended the right to protest under the UK’s Human Rights Act, emphasizing the legal basis for peaceful assembly. However, British MPs Afzal Khan and Yasmin Qureshi condemned the alleged actions, stressing the need for peaceful and respectful expression even in protest.

Diplomatic sources indicated that Scotland Yard may be filing a formal case against the individuals involved, with the Pakistan High Commission aiding through diplomatic channels. The incident not only disturbed CJP Isa and his family but also caused damage to the High Commission’s vehicle, as reported by diplomatic sources.
