ADB to Provide $2.75bn in Budget Support Over 4 Years

Following Pakistan’s recent $7 billion loan program approval from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the path has opened for additional funds from other international financial institutions. The Asian Development Bank (ADB) is expected to provide Pakistan with $2.75 billion in budget support over the next four years, as reported by government sources.

For the current fiscal year, Pakistan is likely to receive an initial $800 million from the ADB. In the subsequent three fiscal years (FY2025-26 to FY2027-28), ADB is projected to provide $650 million annually in budget support.

Sources indicate that this commitment from ADB has boosted Pakistan’s financial outlook, with other international institutions also expressing confidence, potentially improving Pakistan’s funding prospects over the coming years.
