KARACHI: Sindh Governor Imran Ismail and Punjab Governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar addressed in a joint Press conference here at the Governor’s House Tuesday. The Sindh Governor, Imran Ismail said that Administrator Karachi should be appointed after consultation with all stakeholders and their aim is to provide the relief to peoples of Sindh having aim to give interest free loans and will reach to hundred thousand people to deliver ration packs in Sindh province.
Governor Punjab Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar said that we are not interested in any point scoring in politics in Sindh and soon we will meet with the Chief Minister of Sindh to resolve public issues and the law should be equal for all in this country.
The Governor Punjab further said that there was not much rain in Lahore, so the problems of Karachiites are more severe than the people of Lahore. He said Chairman Akhuwat Foundation, Dr. Amjad Saqib is with us to provide interest-free loans to rain victims of Karachi that they will enable to rebuild their homes, Rs. 100,000 loan will be given for 10,000 houses.
Governor Punjab Sarwar was accompanied by a team of philanthropists including Talat, Mian Asif, Ghani who owns Ghani Glass Works for the welfare of rain victims. He said that we are working for Dawat-e-Islami, Saylani Trust and other NGOs of Punjab and Sindh because of their outreach and we will work together on various projects including drinking water.
Moreover both the Governors said that Urban Sindh hard affected. The drains are not cleaned for many years and chocked after rains and are now overflowing. The Sindh government is responsible for this but the Federation wants to help them out without any political interests.
Responding to a question regarding the names for Administrator Karachi, the Sindh Governor Imran Ismael said: “I’m a neutral person and Administrative head of the province and the appointment of Adminstrator Karachi’s mater is being looked into by Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, Saeed Ghani, Nasir Shah, Aminul Haq, Asad Umar, Ali Zaidi and they are working hard to get the honest person for this position.
On another question about COVID-19, Sindh Governor said that we have defeated it through Government, Police, Rangers and Doctors. Thousands of people in India are infected with Corona every day. The Prime Minister’s Smart Lockdown Policy, precautions, preventive measures are very effective and the whole world is amazed at how the coronavirus was eradicated from Pakistan. In Sha Allah, I hope that we will soon be able to overcome the devastation of this rain.”
Both the Governors declared the current situation as disaster in the Sindh province caused by unprecedented rains of above 400 mm but the actual cause of climatic change effects has been neglected in the Press briefing and Punjab Governor, Chaudhary Sarwar responding a question said that our Vision is to plant two billion trees to fight with climatic change effects
Meanwhile, Sindh Governor Imran Ismail along with Punjab Governor Chaudhary Muhammad Sarwar distributed ration bags among the rain-affected people of Orangi Town in collaboration with Bait-ul-Salam Trust, a social welfare organization. Sindh Governor thanked the Governor of Punjab on the occasion and said that he was grateful to the people of Punjab for their support. He said that it was necessary to work to fix the infrastructure of facilities in Karachi so that the problems faced by the people in case of rains could be eliminated.
Punjab Governor Chaudhary Muhammad Sarwar said that the rainfall in Lahore was relatively less than in Karachi due to which the people did not face so many difficulties. He thanked Bait-ul-Salam and other social welfare organizations for distributing rations to the affected people and said that they have helped alleviate the sufferings of the people.
