KARACHI: Al-Saghir Seven-A-Side Super Hockey League inaugurated at Siddiq Memon Sports Complex Gulistan Scouts Center Gulshan-e-Iqbal Karachi. Additional Secretary, General Administration, Government of Sindh Syed Salahuddin Ahmed inaugurated the event, says a Press release.
Imtiaz Ahmed Sheikh, Syed Saghir Hussain, Secretary Al Saghir club Azmat Pasha, Amir Siddiqui, former International Mubashir Mukhtar, Ejaz Khokhar and a large number of veterans, seniors and junior players of Al Saghir Club were present on the occasion.
Salahuddin in his address on the occasion said that the efforts of Al-Saghir Hockey Club for the promotion of national sport in Karachi are commendable. Gathering more than 100 veterans, senior and junior players of its own club on one platform is a great achievement. Salahuddin Ahmed added that he is very happy to say that his first love is hockey. He has been a very good hockey player in his student days and still plays hockey when he has time.
The chief guest not only announced his desire to play in the upcoming tournament organized by Al-Saghir Hockey Club but also assured his cooperation.
In the first match played on the first day of the league, four matches were played by Jahangir Khan Seveners defeating Qadeer Ahmed Seveners 5-4. Adnan Najam scored two goals, Omar Anis and Munawar Abbas scored one goal each.
In the second match, Arif Ashraf defeated Sirajuddin’s team 7-3 thanks to Noman Khan’s double hat-trick. On his behalf, Noman Khan scored six and captain Muhammad Ali once bowled the ball. Asad Ali scored two goals and Wasif Naeem scored one goal for the team.
The third match between Shamsul Zaman and Azeem Khan ended in a 3-3 draw. Zahid Ghaffar, Babar Sadat and Rehan scored for Shamsul Zaman. Scored one, one goal while for Azeem Khan, Sameer Saleem scored two on penalty stroke and Arif Hanif scored one field goal.
The fourth match was played 4-4 between Attaqa Hassan Zaidi and Matlob Baig Seveners. Rai Hammad scored three goals and Anas Siddiqui scored one goal for Attaqa Hassan Zaidi while Samiullah scored three goals for Junaid Aslam and Junaid Aslam Once the ball was caught in the net.
Muhammad Asghar, Nadeem Saeed, Sabteen Raza, Fahad Ali, Akhlaq Bukhari officiated while Nusrat Hussain, Asad Zaheer, Muzammil Hussain and Haji Younis Siddiqui supervised the matches.
Meanwhile, Syed Akhtar Mir, Provincial Secretary Sindh Boy Scouts Association distributed T-shirts among the junior players of Al-Saghir Hockey Club. He thanked Honda Atlas Power Products and Imtiaz Ahmed for sponsoring the Super League. He also assured Al-Saghir Club of his full support in the future.
