RAWALPINDI: On the directives of the Special Court of Anti-Terrorism in Rawalpindi, two banks have frozen 11 accounts belonging to Aleema Khan, sister of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder and former prime minister Imran Khan.
According to a report submitted in court on Monday, Standard Chartered Bank froze 10 of Aleema’s accounts, while Bank Alfalah froze one. The frozen accounts include both personal and trust accounts.
The court also issued contempt notices to five banks — Muslim Commercial Bank, United Bank, Habib Metro Bank, Faisal Bank, and Bank Al-Mukarramah — for failing to comply with earlier directives. It further ordered that all accounts linked to the accused be frozen.
For the seventh time, non-bailable arrest warrants were issued for Aleema Khan due to her failure to appear in court in connection with a case registered by Sadiqabad Police regarding the PTI’s November 26 protest.
While three accused appeared personally and lawyers for seven others attended the hearing, Aleema and her legal representatives remained absent. Special Prosecutor Zaheer Shah was also present.
A report listing 30 of Aleema’s accounts — including personal, trust, and company accounts — was presented to the court. However, despite judicial orders, accounts related to institutions such as Namal University and Shaukat Khanum Hospital were not frozen. The court adjourned proceedings until November 6.
