KARACHI: Repeated acts of disrespect toward sacred personalities and desecration of holy relics – despite clear judicial, governmental, and administrative directives – point to the backing of individuals like Ghulam Rasool Qureshi and Takfiri elements by hidden forces. These forces appear intent on igniting sectarian unrest across Sindh ahead of the mourning days (Muharram). It is imperative to expose these conspirators and thwart their ongoing plots, says a Press release.
These concerns were raised in a protest press release by Allama Nisar Ahmed Qalandari, Provincial President of Jafaria Alliance Pakistan and a prominent religious scholar, alongside Sajid Ali Ansari (President, District Hyderabad), Syed Sher Ali Shah Kazmi (Senior Vice President), Syed Irfan Shah Jehanian (Vice President), Syed Shamim Naqvi (General Secretary), and other senior members.
They cautioned that the patience, civility, and peace-loving nature of the followers of Ahlul Bayt (A.S.) should not be mistaken for weakness. Citing a ruling from the Sindh High Court’s circuit bench in Hyderabad, the leaders stated that the official restoration work initiated by the Sindh Government’s Auqaf Department at the sacred shrine of Bibi Maham (S.A.) is being repeatedly obstructed by petitioner Ghulam Rasool Qureshi and his Takfiri supporters. Such disruptive attempts to incite sectarian discord are not isolated incidents – they are part of a disturbing pattern.
They strongly condemned Qureshi’s recent actions, including mobilizing Takfiri groups from Hyderabad, Badin, and other cities to stage protests at the shrine of Bibi Pak. These gatherings involved inflammatory slogans, open threats, and the desecration of holy relics placed in prayer areas – acts the Alliance described as utterly shameful and intolerable.
Attention was drawn to a previous attack on the same shrine during Eidul Fitr, allegedly by the same group. An FIR for this incident was registered at Ghulam Leghari Police Station.
The Jafaria Alliance called upon the Government of Sindh, the Badin district administration, and all relevant security agencies to take immediate notice of these provocative acts. They demanded that those responsible for fanning sectarian tensions be brought to justice through firm legal action.
