KARACHI: Renowned religious scholar Allama Talib Jauhari passed away on Monday after being hospitalized for a few weeks.
He was 80. Allama Jauhari had been under treatment at intensive care unit (ICU) of a private hospital in Karachi for past few days. He had been on a ventilator since June 10.
His funeral prayer was offered after Zuherain prayers in Amroha Ground, Ancholi Society and later he was buried.
Allama Jauhari was born on August 27, 1938 in Patna, India. He was a student of Ayatollah Shaheed Sayyid Baqir Al-Sadr in Najaf, Iraq, where he studied Islamic theology under Ayatollah al Uzma Sayyid Abu al-Qasim al-Khoei.
He was a master orator and a prolific writer. He wrote several books, including a detailed commentary on the Quran. He was also a poet, and three compilations of his poetry were published during his lifetime.
The deceased scholar had enjoyed central position amongst the Pakistani Ulema for past several years. With his Majlis Sham-e-Ghariban at Nishtar Park, his fame crossed the national borders. His audience included people from all schools of thought.
He was awarded the Sitara-e-Imtiaz by the government of Pakistan for his contributions to society.
President Arif Alvi, Prime Minister Imran Khan, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Bajwa and several other political and religious leaders have expressed deep sorrow over the demise of the scholar and offered condolences to the bereaved family.
In his condolence message, the Prime Minister commiserated with the bereaved family and prayed for the departed soul.
Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Bajwa expressing grief on the demise of Allama Johari, said, “May Allah bless the departed soul in eternal peace and give strength to the bereaved family, Aameen.”
Minister for information and Broadcasting Senator Shibli Faraz expressing deep grief and sorrow over the sad demise of the renowned religious scholar, said that services of Allama Talib Jauhari for the religion will always be remembered. He commiserated with the bereaved family and prayed for the departed soul. – TLTP
