Arshad Nadeem, the Olympic gold medalist from Pakistan, is struggling to sleep due to the overwhelming love and affection he’s receiving from people. After his record-breaking javelin throw of 92.97 meters, which secured Pakistan’s first Olympic gold medal since 1984, Nadeem has been deeply moved by the public’s adoration.
In an interview, he expressed that the massive turnout in his village and the warm reception from the people has left him so excited and grateful that it has affected his ability to rest properly. Despite this, he’s making an effort to meet and thank his supporters, as he believes they deserve his time and appreciation.
Nadeem reflected on his journey, which began in 2012 when he started participating in various events, eventually leading to his international debut in 2016. His hard work culminated in his historic achievement at the Paris Olympics on August 8, 2024. He shared that during the Olympic final, he was determined to secure a strong second throw to avoid any pressure on his third attempt, all while managing an injury he had sustained after undergoing surgery.
The athlete, who hails from Mian Channu, has faced several challenges, including two surgeries—an elbow surgery in 2022 and a knee surgery shortly before the Paris Olympics. Despite these obstacles, Nadeem’s dedication, along with the support from his coach and medical team, helped him achieve his Olympic dream.
Nadeem has asked the nation to pray for his health and has vowed to continue working hard to win more medals for Pakistan in the future.
