Asad Umar Hospitalized After Health Deteriorates During Court Appearance

Former federal minister Asad Umar was rushed to a hospital after his health condition deteriorated at an anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Lahore on Tuesday.

Umar, who was attending a court hearing related to multiple cases, including vandalism and the cypher case, experienced chest pain in the courtroom. His lawyer stated that Umar was immediately transferred to the hospital for medical attention.

According to hospital administration reports to Geo News, Umar’s condition improved after receiving medication. The deterioration in his health was attributed to taking a blood pressure pill on an empty stomach. Upon arrival at the hospital, doctors conducted an ECG and took blood samples. The initial ECG report was normal, although his blood pressure had dropped. Umar is currently under observation for further evaluation.

A video circulating on social media shows the former federal minister being carried by individuals to a vehicle for transport to the hospital. This incident follows a previous health scare on June 9 in Karachi, where Umar was treated for back pain.

Asad Umar, the ex-secretary general of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), resigned from the party’s basic membership on November 11, 2023, and withdrew from politics. He had earlier stepped down as the party’s secretary general on May 24, shortly after the May 9 riots.

Umar remains under medical observation as doctors continue to monitor his condition.
