ATC Grants 5-Day Physical Remand of Imran Khan

The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Rawalpindi approved a five-day physical remand of former Prime Minister Imran Khan on Thursday in an incitement to violence case linked to PTI’s September 28 protest. The hearing was held at Adiala Jail, where Khan has been detained for over a year.

Prosecutor Zaheer Shah sought a 15-day remand, alleging that Khan orchestrated attacks on government property despite being in solitary confinement. PTI’s lawyer Salman Safdar dismissed the claims as politically motivated.

The court denied the 15-day request, granting only five days and ordering interrogation within the jail.

The case stems from an FIR filed on September 28 under the ATA and PPC, accusing Khan of inciting arson and property damage during PTI protests. Five suspects were also arrested, with one found possessing petrol.

Meanwhile, the Toshakhana 2.0 case was adjourned until November 26, with Bushra Bibi granted an exemption from appearance. Security has been tightened around Khan’s jail cell, with guards deployed in three shifts.
