A connectivity disruption affecting various banks’ networks with 1LINK, the largest interbank network in Pakistan, caused significant difficulties for customers attempting to withdraw cash from ATMs on Monday. The disruption led to a widespread blockade that impacted many customers’ ability to access their funds, and online money transfers were also affected as a result. In response to the concerns, 1LINK officials acknowledged the issue, stating that connectivity with some banks had been affected and that they were working to resolve the problem. This incident follows an earlier situation in August, where rumors about widespread ATM closures circulated, prompting the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) to issue a statement debunking the claims and assuring the public that there were no issues with the availability of ATM services or related networks.
