Ayaz Sadiq Convenes Third Round of Govt-PTI Talks on January 16

ISLAMABAD – National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has called the third round of negotiations between the government and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) for January 16 at the Parliament House. The in-camera meeting will begin at 11:30 am, according to a statement from the National Assembly Secretariat.

Originally scheduled for January 15, the meeting date was rescheduled following a PTI leadership request.

Facilitating Dialogue

Speaker Ayaz Sadiq, emphasizing his commitment to resolving political disputes through dialogue, continues to act as a neutral facilitator. His spokesperson stated,

“The speaker believes in addressing issues with mutual respect and understanding, and he remains sincere in his efforts to ensure successful dialogue.”

Previous Discussions

In earlier meetings, PTI leader Omar Ayub presented a detailed stance on behalf of his party. The PTI delegation demanded the release of party chief Imran Khan and other detained leaders and workers as part of their negotiation points.

Senator Irfan Siddiqui, speaking for the government’s negotiating team, confirmed that PTI intends to submit a formal charter of demands at the upcoming session. He noted that despite political tensions, Imran Khan had directed PTI to continue participating in talks.

Expectations for the Third Meeting

With both sides expressing willingness to negotiate, political observers see this session as critical for breaking the deadlock. The meeting on January 16 may shape the future of ongoing efforts to stabilize political conditions in the country.
