KARACHI: Providing help and facilities to exporters and taxpayers is our top priority. Delays in refund payments have been eliminated. We are focusing on increasing tax collections and tax net. It was stated by Chairman Federal Board of Revenue Javed Ghani while addressing delegation led by Danish Khan, Chairman Leather Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PLGMEA), says a Press release.
Dr. Muhammad Ashfaq Ahmed, Member Inland Revenue Operations, Syed Muhammad Tariq Hooda, Member, FBR (Customs Operations) represented FBR while Fawad Ijaz Khan, S. Irfan Iqbal, Atif Ashraf, Chaudhry Ahmad Zulfiqar Hayat and Rashid Zahoor represented the delegation of PLGMEA in the meeting.
Chairman FBR Javed Ghani said that timely payment of tax refunds has not only accelerated business activities but also increased the volume of tax collection.
The delegation of PLGMEA informed chairman FBR regarding matters related to 3% additional sales tax, 1% income tax and other issues.
Chairman PLGMEA Danish Khan said that leather garments and leather goods industry is a value-added industry and Pakistan’s third largest value added export sector. Chairman PLGMEA Danish Khan said that the presence of a chairman like Javed Ghani can bring positive changes in the FBR.
He said that the recovery of sales tax and refund claims have encouraged taxpayers. He said that the industrial and business sector is facing problems and it is necessary to encourage taxpayers. That tax and other issues should be resolved on priority basis.
