Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir has reiterated the need for prioritizing Pakistan’s interests over personal or political agendas, urging unity and optimism for the country’s future.
Address to the Business Community
In a meeting with the business community in Karachi, General Munir highlighted:
- National Interest:
“Our only identity is Pakistan, and we must put its interests above our own,” he said. Comparing the state to a mother, he underlined its importance by referencing the struggles of nations like Iraq, Libya, and Palestine. - Economic Optimism:
General Munir dismissed the earlier concerns of Pakistan defaulting, emphasizing that economic indicators are improving and will continue to progress into the next year.“Where are the doom merchants who spoke of default? Bring your money to Pakistan; it will benefit both individuals and the country.”
- Self-Reliance:
He encouraged Pakistanis to take ownership of their country’s economic recovery, stating that only they can lead Pakistan to economic stability. - Digital Security:
Highlighting the role of technology, General Munir stressed that safeguarding Pakistan’s digital borders and ensuring the digital security of its people is a state responsibility.
Visit to IDEAS 2024
The COAS also attended the International Defence Exhibition and Seminar (IDEAS-2024) at the Karachi Expo Centre, where he:
- Exhibitors and Participation:
Commended the participation of 557 exhibitors, including 333 international and 224 domestic manufacturers, representing 36 countries. Notably, 17 nations participated for the first time. - Foreign Delegates:
Over 300 delegates from 53 countries showcased confidence in Pakistan’s defence industry, engaging in meaningful discussions with the COAS.
Inauguration of Shahpar-III UAV
A major highlight of the exhibition was the unveiling of Shahpar-III, an advanced combat Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) developed by Global Industrial Defence Solutions (GIDS).
