ISLAMABAD: Another 4,553 people tested positive for the coronavirus in the last 24 hours in the country, said the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) on Thursday.
The NCOC said that 85 more people lost their lives to the virus. As many as 4,553 people tested positive for the virus after 61,446 Covid-19 tests were taken, as per the NCOC’s data. This brings the positivity rate to 7.4 percent. The total number of active cases in the country rose to 92,244 on August 26.
A total of 1,022,847 people have so far recovered from the virus while the total number of deaths, with the fresh count of 85 fatalities, have risen to 25,320. Pakistan’s total confirmed case count now stands at 1,140,411.
Punjab reported 1,515 Covid cases and 35 more deaths due to coronavirus during the past 24 hours. The tally of positive cases in the province currently stands at 385,258, while deaths total 11,666. Some 348,729 patients have recovered from the disease so far.
At least 25 more patients died from Covid-19 in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa during the last 24 hours, taking the death toll to 4,884. Health officials said that 519 cases emerged in the province as the tally surged to 159,483. They further said that 423 patients recovered overnight, taking the total to 147,052.
At least 30 more people contracted coronavirus in Balochistan during the last 24 hours, taking the tally to 31,109. According to health officials, no deaths were reported in the province. So far 338 people have succumbed to the deadly virus. As many as 30,295 patients have recovered from the disease in the province so far. – TLTP
