KOHAT: In a significant stride towards enhancing healthcare accessibility, Dawood Global Foundation (DGF), in collaboration with Oil & Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL), has successfully distributed 540 wheelchairs to various hospitals in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The distribution ceremony gathering representatives from all 5 hospitals took place at DHQ Hospital, Kohat, on Friday, June 7, 2024.
The wheelchair distribution event, a collaborative effort between Dawood Global Foundation (DGF) and Oil & Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL), saw the presence of esteemed personalities from both organizations and the medical community. Ms. Tara Uzra Dawood, President of DGF, and Arsalan Ahmad Khattak, Admin Officer at OGDCL, spearheaded the initiative. Dignitaries present at the event included landowner and industrialist Saeed Afridi as well as AC Customs Rahat Naseem.
The event successfully distributed wheelchairs to several hospitals across Kohat, Karak, and Lakki Marwat, ensuring enhanced mobility for those in need.
In Kohat, DHQ Hospital received 200 wheelchairs, accepted by Dr. Mushtaq Ahmad, while Liaquat Memorial Hospital obtained 30, handed over to Dr. Abdul Hadi.
In Karak, DHQ Hospital and Women & Children Hospital were allocated 100 and 120 wheelchairs respectively, with Dr. Abdul Wahab and Muhammad Riaz graciously accepting them. Lastly, DHQ Hospital in Lakki Marwat received 90 wheelchairs, accepted by Dr. Muhammad Ismail. This event underscores the commitment of DGF and OGDCL to community welfare and healthcare support, marking a significant step towards improving the quality of life for many individuals.
Speaking at the event, Tara Uzra Dawood, whose dream it is to distribute 10,000 wheelchairs across Pakistan, expressed her gratitude for the collaboration and emphasized the importance of such initiatives in improving the quality of life for individuals with mobility challenges. “We are proud to partner with OGDCL in this noble cause. The provision of these wheelchairs will not only enhance mobility for the patients but also contribute to their overall well-being,” she said.
Arsalan Ahmad Khattak highlighted OGDCL’s commitment to corporate social responsibility and community support. “OGDCL welcomes the Dawood Global Foundation delegation, and appreciates the initiative of DGF wheelchairs distribution. This is the initiative of poor and needy people which will be very helpful especially in health sector, hospitals, BHQ’s, Dispensaries etc, I pay thanks to President and the delegation of DGF for coming to Kohat and Southern Punjab and I assure DGF that any kind of support and cooperation required from OGDCL will be done.”
Dr. Mushtaq Ahmad, Medical Superintendent of DHQ Hospital, Kohat, expressed his appreciation, stating, “The distribution of these wheelchairs, made upon our hospital’s request, will greatly serve the public at large. We are thankful to DGF and OGDCL for their generosity and support in enhancing our healthcare services.”
