KARACHI: DHA Suffa University (DSU), through its Department of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Engineering & Applied Sciences, in collaboration with the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture, Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology (SSUET), successfully organized the *2nd International Conference on Sustainable and Smart Cities (ICSSC 2026)* on August 18-19, 2026.
The inaugural session was held at SSUET on August 18, while the technical sessions and closing ceremony took place at DHA Suffa University, DHA City Karachi. The two-day international conference brought together distinguished national and international scholars, researchers, academicians, practicing engineers, industry professionals, policymakers and students to discuss emerging challenges and innovative solutions for sustainable and smart urban development.
The conference featured a keynote address by an international scholar, along with parallel technical sessions and research presentations covering a wide range of contemporary themes. These included sustainable infrastructure, integrated urban water management, smart waste management, artificial intelligence applications in civil engineering, structural health monitoring, transportation infrastructure and climate-resilient engineering.
ICSSC 2026 provided an important platform for knowledge exchange, academic collaboration and industry-academia interaction. Participants discussed innovative engineering approaches and research-based solutions aligned with Pakistan’s urban development and sustainability priorities.
The successful organization of the international conference further strengthened DHA Suffa University’s academic and research profile and highlighted its role as a progressive hub for education, innovation, research and sustainable urban development.
The conference concluded with valuable recommendations for future research collaborations and reaffirmed the commitment of DSU and SSUET to promoting engineering excellence, innovation and sustainable city development in Pakistan.
