LAHORE: Special Assistant to Punjab Chief Minister on Information, Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan has said that the government is pursuing a digitisation policy to bring solid reforms in all institutions including Directorate General Public Relations.
Talking to the media persons on Tuesday, she said that a proposal for setting up of the Punjab Information Academy will be submitted to the chief minister soon. Awan said, the chief minister has accorded approval for establishment of a modern Bus Terminal at Thokar Niaz Baig in Lahore while the design of the proposed terminal will be submitted on the 10th of this month.
She said the government is launching electric buses to reduce environmental pollution and smog while the scope of Lahore Transport Company will be extended to every city of Punjab to facilitate the masses. She said the chief minister has given in principle approval for the establishment of the Punjab Road Safety Authority.
About the political situation of the country, Firdous Ashiq Awan said that the people of Gilgit-Baltistan rejected the opposition narrative and elected the real representatives of the area. She hoped that new elected Chief Minister Khalid Khurshid will play a key role in the development of Gilgit-Baltistan.
Separately, in a statement on Tuesday, Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan said the corrupt PDM cabal is spreading corona through their meetings. She said that an unnatural union of 11 miscellaneous parties is showing sheer enmity with the people.
She said the opposition’s narrative is limited to plunder and minting pockets. The real designs of those who raise the slogan of giving respect to vote are to accept their ill-gotten money. She asserted that the days of looters are numbered and those who put the lives of the people in danger have no right of politics. The rise in corona cases is due to the meetings of the unscrupulous gang, she added.
While giving details of the latest corona situation in the province, she said the number of active corona patients is 17941. A total of 543 confirmed cases have been reported, 45 have died and 15356 have been tested during the last 24 hours. So far, 1,995,667 have been tested, while out of 119,578 patients, 98,601 have recovered. A total of 3,036 patients have died in Punjab, she added. TLTP
