KARACHI: On the occasion of the 36th anniversary of the passing of Imam Khomeini (RA) – the founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran – a grand seminar titled “Explaining the Divine-Political Thought of Imam Khomeini” was held Wednesday evening at the Consulate General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Karachi, in collaboration with the Iranian Cultural Center in Karachi.
The event was attended by dozens of prominent academic, political, media, and cultural figures from Karachi, including members of parliament, religious scholars, university professors, and media representatives.
Delivering the keynote address, Vahid Asghari, Head of the Consulate General of Iran in Karachi, stated: “The victory of the Islamic Revolution under the leadership of Imam Khomeini (RA) brought a historic transformation in Iran’s political system – both domestically and internationally. Domestically, it empowered the people and restructured governance; internationally, it established a new ethical and ideological stance rooted in pure Muhammadan Islam.”
Saeed Talebinia, Cultural Attache and Head of the Iranian Cultural Center in Karachi, paid tribute to Imam Khomeini (RA), saying: “Imam Khomeini did not belong only to the Islamic world – he was a divine gift for all of humanity in our era. His greatest legacy was the establishment of an Islamic government and the practical implementation of the theory of Wilayat-e-Faqih (Guardianship of the Jurist), which he introduced as a rational and theological necessity.”
A number of influential figures shared their reflections on the timeless ideas of Imam Khomeini, including: Allama Syed Hassan Zafar Naqvi, Senior Shia Scholar in Pakistan; Dr. Meraj-ul-Huda Siddiqui, Deputy Emir of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan; Dr. Shazia Imam, Academic and Media Activist; Maulana Mahmood Hussaini, Sunni Cleric; Asif Musa, Member of Sindh Provincial Assembly, Pakistan People;s Party; Fahad Shafique, Youth Program Coordinator to the Prime Minister of Pakistan.
The event also featured video clips of speeches by the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei (may his life be prolonged), as well as documentaries showcasing the final hours of Imam Khomeini’s noble life, which drew deep emotional responses from the attendees.
At the conclusion of the seminar, special commemorative shields were presented to Allama Syed Hassan Zafar Naqvi and Dr. Meraj-ul-Huda Siddiqui in recognition of their outstanding contributions to promoting the thought of Imam Khomeini (RA) in both Shia and Sunni communities.
