KARACHI: Sindh Minister for Health and Population Welfare Dr. Azra Fazal Pechuho inaugurated the newly established phlebotomy services and subspecialty orthopedic clinics and operation theatres at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) on Saturday. She was accompanied by Prof. Amjad Siraj (Vice Chancellor-JSMU), Prof. Shahid Rasul (Executive Director JPMC), Prof.Tariq Mahmod- Honorary Commander Pak-Navy and (Donors Representative),Dr.Nousheen Rauf (Deputy Director), and Dr. Sadam Saleh (ADM JPMC).
The Minister visited postoperative patients of pediatric orthopedics, sports injuries, and musculoskeletal tumors, appreciating their remarkable recovery and commending the department’s commitment to excellence.
Dr. Pechuho directed the preparation of a comprehensive proposal for province-wide training workshops and free distribution of clubfoot braces and shoes across Sindh to expand orthopedic care accessibility.
The newly inaugurated specialized facilities include: Phlebotomy Services led by Dr. Sadam Saleh, Pediatric Orthopedic Surgery led by Dr. Pervaiz Ahmed, Sports Medicine & Surgery led by Dr. Yasir Hussain Khan, and Musculoskeletal Tumor Surgery led by Dr. Farukh Hussain.
These services aim to provide advanced surgical care for complex sports injuries and bone or soft tissue tumor cases.
Dr. Azra Fazal Pechuho reaffirms the Sindh Government’s commitment to strengthening specialized surgical care for both children and adults across the province.She is taking special interest in JPMC and also spoke on the recent hot topic of giving JPMC to administer through Public Private Partnership or a NGO or Autonomous body on World Polio Day on Friday ,She said that these are misleading stories, Sindh Government is looking after the entire affairs and taken it from Federal government for the period of ten years and legally we are not authorized to give JPMC to any other entity.
