Dr. Essa Laboratory & Diagnostic Centre Hosts Women Empowerment Summit

KARACHI: Dr. Essa Laboratory & Diagnostic Centre organized a Women Empowerment Summit on Saturday at its Abul Hassan Isphahani Branch to highlight the importance of women’s education, leadership, and equal participation in national development. The event brought together representatives from healthcare, education, public service, civil society, media, sports, and the corporate sector.
The summit emphasized that empowering women is essential for building a stronger and more prosperous Pakistan. Participants discussed the role of women in leadership, entrepreneurship, healthcare, education, and community development, noting that women continue to make significant contributions across all sectors of society.
During the discussions, it was highlighted that women leaders contribute to stronger institutions, improved decision-making, and greater innovation. Global studies show that organizations with greater female participation in leadership often achieve better performance, stronger governance, and more inclusive growth.
The summit also drew attention to the importance of education for women and girls. According to UNESCO, nearly two-thirds of the world’s adults who lack basic literacy are women, while millions of girls remain out of school globally. Participants observed that educating women leads to healthier families, higher household incomes, delayed child marriage, reduced child mortality, and stronger economic development.
Speakers further noted that maternal health remains a major global challenge. According to the World Health Organization, approximately 260,000 women died from pregnancy- and childbirth-related causes worldwide in 2023, with the majority of these deaths considered preventable through better healthcare access, awareness, and education.
The event reflected the broader national aspiration of a strong, united, and progressive Pakistan, in line with the vision of Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, which emphasizes national unity, discipline, merit, resilience, and inclusive development. Participants observed that women’s empowerment is a vital pillar of national progress and contributes significantly to economic growth, social stability, and institutional strength.
Dr. Essa Laboratory & Diagnostic Centre reiterated its commitment to supporting initiatives that promote women’s leadership, education, healthcare awareness, professional development, and equal opportunities, reaffirming its role in advancing both public health and national development.
