KARACHI: The inquiry committee of the Sindh Health Department has declared in its report that Dr Furqan’s death occurred due to negligence committed by Civil Hospital Karachi’s Dr Jagdish.
The inquiry committee – which had been formed on Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah’s orders – has forwarded its final report to the health department and the CM.
The committee had recorded statements of 14 persons including Dr Furqan’s niece. The report states that Dr Furqan refused to visit hospital initially and agreed only after his family insisted.
He was shifted to civil hospital by Aman Foundation ambulance and was not properly treated either by the ambulance or the hospital staff.
Despite the availability of nine ICU beds, the hospital staff referred Dr Furqan to another hospital instead of admitting him. The patient was then taken to home where his condition worsened.
Dr Furqan was then shifted to a private hospital where the doctors told to immediately put him on ventilator. He was then taken to Ojha complex but had expired on the way.
The report claims that Dr Furqan died because right decision was not made timely. The inquiry committee has recommended departmental action against Dr Jagdish. – NNI
