More than 2000 students receive degrees from DUHS.
KARACHI: Professor Muhammad Saeed Quraishy, Vice Chancellor of Dow University of Health Sciences has said that the world is changing and the facts of space are no longer a secret. Gene changes have now become the subject of evening gatherings, says a Press release.
He further said that there are other facts to say that the knowledge of artificial intelligence metaverse and blockchain is now common. He advised the students to adhere to some important values in practical life, which include respect, kindness, patience, honesty, integrity and tolerance.
He shared these views while attending the 12th convocation of Dow University of Health Sciences as a Chief Guest. The chairperson of the convocation committee Prof. Saba Sohail, Secretary Dr. Zeba Haque also addressed the ceremony while the Registrar Dr. Ashar Afaq administered the oath to the students to serve humanity without discrimination, while all other principals and professors, students and their families also participated in the event.
Vice Chancellor said that Dow University has prepared more than two thousand batches of doctors, dentists and other health professionals to perform duties in the health sector. He said that the university’s ranking among the top 600 universities worldwide is the result of the institution’s tireless efforts. Dow University is the only university in the country to award honorary degrees to internationally renowned transplant surgeons, among them renowned surgeon Prof. Mansoor Mohiuddin is also a former student of Dow University.
Professor Saeed Quraishy said that the services and teaching style of Dow University have been appreciated at the national and international level as we continued the journey of education without compromise. He emphasized to the students that to become a good doctor you also have to be a good human being. He said that awarding 2 honorary degrees and 4 PhD degrees is a matter of pride for the university.
He thanked everyone associated with the institution, who kept the institution on the path of development. Professor Saeed more said that Dow University has always played a key role in the development of medical education, he said that he is grateful to all parents who have expressed their trust in Dow University. Degrees were awarded, including 111 gold, silver and bronze medals, including honorary degrees of Doctor of Science (DSc) to two international transplant surgeons.
The ceremony was held Thursday morning at Ojha Cricket Stadium’ DUHS Ojha Campus. In which Dow University Vice Chancellor Professor Muhammad Saeed Quraishy conferred the degree as a Chief Guest. As many as 37 gold, 37 silver and 37 bronze medals (medals) were awarded to 111 students of different fields for getting the first, second and third positions in the award distribution ceremony.
According to the details of degree awarded students, out of 2082, 1508 graduates and 543 post-graduates, including 27 MPhil and 4 PhD students, were awarded degrees. The convocation also includes two honorary degrees of Doctor of Science. Apart from this, a gold medal attributed to Professor Muhammad Shafi Quraishy (the former Principal of Dow Medical College) has been awarded for the first time, to the student who has performed the best and brought position in the field of medicine.
